Northern Trust Asset Management Partners With Solactive To Launch Two Global Bond ESG Climate Index Funds

LONDON, UK, FRANKFURTAM MAIN, GERMANY / ACCESSWIRE / Dec 19, 2022 / Northern Trust Asset Management, (NTAM), is one of the most respected investment managers in the world. The launch of two global bond ESG fund and corresponding indices was made possible by Solactive, a German index provider.

Portfolio managers target issuers who they believe are better able to manage financial material environmental, social and corporate governance risks (ESG), and transition to a low-carbon economy. Both funds use distinct ESG approaches to improve ESG profiles and decrease carbon intensity in fixed income portfolios. One fund applies ESG strategies to corporate bonds, while the other to government bonds. Both strategies use the same investment process, but have different duration targets. This gives investors the flexibility to manage bond portfolios in an increasing interest rate environment.

The NT Global Bond ESG Climate Index Funds and the NT Global 1-5 Year Bond ESG Climate Index Funds are used as benchmarks to measure the performance of a global investment-grade bond universe. They integrate ESG scores, climate data, and government bonds into the index. The indices are custom-made and use a broad-base universe of approximately 25,000 bonds. They include bonds issued either by central governments or government-related issuers. The Solactive Global Bond ESG Climate Index is the complete maturity curve. The Solactive Global Bond 1-5 year ESG Climate Index is shorter.

The NT Global Bond ESG Climate Index Fund (and the NT Global 1-5 Year Bond ESG Climate Index Fund) are available in Ireland and the UK.
