NBA and NHL broadcasts are coming soon to immersive ‘shared reality' domes
An immersive tech company called Cosm is launching 'shared reality' venues in Dallas and Los Angeles that will broadcast select live sports in a deal with TNT.

The first episode of the series was released in September. The games can be viewed without glasses or headsets. Cosm simulates the experience of being courtside for a basketball match or pitchside at a soccer game using multicamera productions. In an exclusive interview with CNBC, Jeb Terry said, "We believe in that same notion of using amazing technology to give humans a new experience they have never had before." Cosm Los Angeles will open its doors in spring 2024. The venue is expected to open in the second half of next year. Each building can accommodate around 2,000 people. The dome section of the building will have standing areas, similar to those in modern sports bars. There will also be broadcasts from all kinds of sports. There will be lounges and places to sit. Cosm, a company founded by Mirasol Capital in 2020, a private equity firm that specializes in technology, real estate and entertainment through acquisitions, was formed in the year following. The company acquired companies in spatial computing, immersive video production, and engineering. Terry, Cosm CEO, was a former offensive lineman in the National Football League for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He is also a Fox Sports executive. He is also the managing director of Mirasol. More than 700 planetariums are powered by Warner Bros. Warner Bros. and Discovery have a partnership. Discovery is a revenue sharing agreement that could extend to non-scripted entertainment such as.
