Boat Capsizes in Southern India, at Least 20 People Dead
. At least 20 people, including women and children, died after a boat capsized near a beach in southern India, according to local media.
NEW DELHI, India (AP) - Twenty people, among them women and children, were killed when a boat with more than 30 passengers capsized near a beach on Sunday evening in the southern Indian state of Kerala. Local media reported this.
The Press Trust of India reported that the boat was being hauled to shore and it is expected that more bodies will be recovered. Four people were also admitted in critical condition to a hospital.
Rescuers were at Tanur, which is a coastal city in the Malappuram district of the state, near the beach where the boat capsized. The cause of the boat's overturn is not known.
